Kylie Hartness will have to give up her Backstreet Boys CD. Although the 20-year-old loves the group, Hartness knows not being able to listen to the group will help entertain others thousands of miles away.
Hartness, 2008 Miss Lindenhurst, along with Junior Miss and Little Miss Lindenhurst assisted in giving and collecting CDs and DVDs for the Tunes 4 the Troops program at Chase Bank, 2030 E. Grand Ave., Saturday afternoon.
Since 2005, Tunes 4 the Troops has collected music and movies from 200 satellite locations across the country to be shipped to soldiers stationed overseas.
The organization was founded by 17-year-old Kaylee Radzyminski of Tennessee when she was 14 after she attended a naval camp in Florida.
There, she asked cadets what was one of the things they missed about not being in America. Their response was few opportunities to listen to the latest music, CDs and watch movies.
She found out that in most cases, troops had to rotate a small selection of music and movies among various units.
Hearing and reading about what Radzyminski did for troops inspired Hartness to do the same.
"The troops need all the support we can give them, so we are hoping this helps," said Hartness who has a boyfriend in the Navy. "I know it can be tough for them and their families being away from home."
Area residents stepped up to the plate Saturday and donated all types of music and movies into drop boxes located inside the bank.
Everything from jazz, to rap and country were collected, and movies ranged from slapstick comedy to horror flicks.
Abby Austill, 9, Little Miss Lindenhurst, even was able to get her father to donate his Willie Nelson CD.
"We try to donate to people all the time," Austill said, who is also a student at B.J. Hooper School where donations were also being collected. "We also raise money and donate to charity. The troops protect our country so we have to help them."

Motown CDs come and go year after year. I have several in my huge collection of music that are mediocre at best. So when I received this one I was skeptical. Friday nights around our house is the time to kickoff the weekend. Usual fare before dinner consists of a nice bottle of wine and some nibbles. This was no different. I got out the wine and cheese and set out to pull my hubby out of his office. I decided this might be a good time to put on the new Motown CD and give it a listen.
I popped it into the CD player and off it went. Well to my surprise not two minutes into the music I was on the patio setting down the tray when my husband came dancing out of his office and into the kitchen! He was grooving all the way to the back door. After a few songs we were both hooked! He immediately asked for the jacket to read what other wonderful tunes were in store for us. As he read down the timeless list of classic Motown selections, we started talking about when some of the songs tickled our ears for the first time and the situations surrounding them. We laughed and danced and had our own little party on the patio until all 25 tracks were done. We did not even begin to start dinner that night until well after 8pm, but it was worth it!!
If you are into nostalgia and great foot tapping, happy, and dare I say, “GROOVIE” songs, this is the CD you have to own. The digital remastering culminates well known songs such as “Brick House”, “I Want You Back”, and so many more into a clear, crisp explosion of rhythms and beats that you cannot sit still to. In fact, the sound quality is so good that I heard backgrounds in some songs like “Upside Down” and “WAR” that I never knew were there!
I highly recommend this album to anyone who loves music and the awesome sounds of artists like The Commodores, The Temptations, Diana Ross, Rick James and Stevie Wonder. They may be from the past but their music lives on forever in wonderful CDs like this! I give it five stars!

Backstreet Boy AJ McLean arrived at the tail of the meal, just in time to head to the nightclub where Sasha’s birthday celebration continued.
Another former boy band star and N’Sync member, Lance Bass, was at a VIP table nearby and AJ stop by to say hello. Lance was celebrating the birthday of his assistant with friends.

"Everyone," "Any other way" and "Unmistakable" were the following items which the band performed, which was stripped of the robes of a boxer to show a change of clothes informal.
After that, Howie gave way to his solo interpretation of the romantic song "She" s like the sun, dressed in a white waistcoat and trousers.
Thus, although not in the presence of their former member Kevin Richardson or a large production for the show, his followers were devoted to cheer and enjoy the recital, which also always received gifts such as scarves, roses and letters from people close to the stage.
During the interpretation of "Show me the meaning of being lonely" singers took seats around a table, to which simulated a game of poker, which caused the excitement of those present, which at times ran to the stage to be close their idols, but were thwarted by security elements.
Increased when the euphoria sounded familiar themes, accompanied by images of their videos, so that the entire auditorium Korean songs like "Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)", "As long as you love me", "All I have to give "and" I "ll never break your heart", also interpreted in its Spanish version. To not miss the food "at home", before leaving the Backstreet Boys Town decided to make a stop ... in a McDonald's. Nick, Howie, Brian and A.J. left the hotel in San Pedro yesterday around 11:20 am and took a path that led to the fast food restaurant.
The hungry singers, which were presented Monday at the Arena Monterrey, decided to
go through the "Automac" to order take-out. According to employees of the
establishment located on the Avenida Gomez Morin called her lunch and breakfast
menu accompanied with orange juice."It was incredible, as always," was all
